infanticipating

Few months from now i'm gonna be a mom. A good friend of mine said i'm gonna be a cool mom, and so i think i'm gonna have a cool baby. I love cats, dogs, and i love paiting. Would my baby be like me? Now, i can imagine how she would behave around with cute pets and how she would practice her painting skills. See this:

(my baby will definitely love cats but i hope she would not be a cat-eater)

(dogs are nice but i don't think our pet dog "Popo" will be kind enough to let the baby sleep on his back)

(i used to treat the walls of our house like canvass but i never did face painting; my baby might)

egypt has no monopoly of pyramids

Yeah, Egypt has no monopoly of pyramids. Just recently, i have watched Discovery Channel and was surprised when i learned that Mexico has its own mysterious temples and pyramids too! I have never been interested in Aztec culture. And i have encountered the word "Teotihuacan" a few times but i never bothered to check what is behind it until i saw it on TV; and so, i research in the internet and some of my findings amazed me.

In Nahuatl, Teotihuacan means 'The City of the Gods', or 'Where Men Become Gods'.

The plazas, avenues, and great pyramids of the city of Teotihuacan were laid out as a symbolic sacred landscape of artificial foothills and mountains.

The complex of approximately 600 pyramids of various sizes is dominated by the great Pyramid of the Sun which, it was discovered in 1971, was built over a natural cave with four chambers (cf. Sacred Caves). Mesoamerican belief saw caves as gateways to the spiritual world (called Xibalba by the Maya). The cave contained remains of offerings and may have been a focus for shamanistic rituals from a much earlier period. There can be no doubt that the Pyramid of the Sun was deliberately built over the sacred cave.

Teotihuacan was probably Mexico's biggest ancient city, with perhaps 200,000 residents at its peak in the 6th century, it was virtually abandoned by the 7th century.

The Pyramid of the Sun, built in the 2nd century AD, dominates the landscape of the ancient city of Teotihuacan in Mexico.

Teotihuacan -the place of the Gods - was the first true city in Mesoamerica, at its peak - 600 AD - it housed more than 100,000 people.

It is the third largest pyramid in the world and the largest in the Teotihuacan complex.

It's sides are 700 feet long, it is about 200 feet high, and is actually a succession of pyramids built one on top the other over the centuries. The pyramids and many other structures at Teotihuacan are stepped, rather than smooth sided like the Egyptian pyramids, and the stones of which they are made are not so large that there would be a mystery about how they were moved as there is with the Egyptian pyramids, the Moai statues of Easter Island, and the Nasca Lines.

At its peak time - most of Teotihuacan was plastered, and the pyramids were painted bright red.

There are many pyramids and temples in Mexico but it would cost me too much time if i post 'em all here.

Actually, i'm just bored. My "ka-berks" are not here. Jasmin is on day off, Liv is lost in Bohol with Caecent. While Cristina is busy pounding on the keyboard of her computer to meet the lapsed 6 p.m. deadline. *sigh*

love and stupidity

My best friend forwarded this message to me. It says "One can never love without experiencing pain. But then we are given options; we can choose between the one we love and the one who loves us. It’s like choosing between love and stupidity. Love is when you go to the one who loves you and allow love to take place gradually. Stupidity is when you force yourself to be loved by the one you really love without knowing he loves another. Be wise enough in making your move. Love is a great feeling but it comes with a lot of hurting especially when you know that the person can never love you the way you want him to. Allow yourself to be happy. Allow yourself to be loved."

But i am in love, and I am stupid.

summer is here!

whew! summer is here once again... and speaking of summer, who does not think of going to beach?

it's been almost a year since the last time i was in a beach. too bad, the last time i was, which was at the EGI resort in Lapu-Lapu City (a company outing) i did not even have the chance to plunge in the deep blue waters of the sea. tsk! tsk!

this year, i'm looking forward to spending some time in the beach again where i can sit on the alabaster sand, feel the cool and gentle zypher or splurge into the blue waters. may be i will bring with me a good book to read while i sit under a coconut tree like what i did in Boracay some six years ago. yes, six years ago and i don't know when i could go back there.

but Boracay is too far and takes a bigger budget, so i may settle with the nearer and cheaper one. may be Panglao island in Bohol...or Malapascua island, or Plantation Bay... wheeeee... anybody wants to invite me, i'm free to go anytime...hehehehe.

koreanovela

I'm not fond of telenovelas. when Koreanovelas envaded the Philippine televisions, i was not much interested to watch them either. well, not until i saw a few, which has really interesting plots and amazingly cute casts like "Endless Love," (the Autumn in my Heart episode) have. i really never get tired of staring at the cute eyes of the characters, especially of "Jenny" and "Andrew." but that was before, it was almost two years ago. then recently, i had the chance to watch another Koreanovela, which makes me really giggle. okay, i get hooked to "Princess Lulu" and i enjoy watching it. i find it really funny and the character of Marco (Jung Joon Ho) mysterious and he is so cute!!! and who else would not laugh at Lulu (Kim Jung-eun)?she already won the televiewers' hearts when she portrayed "Vivian" in the "Lovers in Paris" now she's back at it.

enhancing relationships

i came across this forwarded message on email. i find it really true and applicable... read on...

TRUST is a very important factor for all relationships. When trust is broken, it is the end of the relationship. Lack of trust leads to suspicion, suspicion generates anger, anger causes enmity and enmity may result in separation.

A telephone operator told me that one day she received a phone call. She answered, "Public Utilities Board." There was silence. She repeated, "PUB." There was still no answer. When she was going to cut off the line, she Heard a lady's voice, "Oh, so this is PUB.Sorry, I got the number from my Husband's pocket but I do not know whose
number it is."

Without mutual trust, just imagine what will happen to the couple if the telephone operator answered with just "hello" instead of "PUB".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO POINTING FINGERS

A man asked his father-in-law, "Many people praised you for a successful marriage. Could you please share with me your secret?"
The father-in-law answered in a smile, "Never criticize your wife ! for her shortcomings or when she does something wrong. Always bear in mind that because of her shortcomings and weaknesses, she could not find a better husband than
you."

We all look forward to being loved and respected. Many people are afraid of losing face. Generally, when a person makes a mistake, he would look around to find a scapegoat to point the finger at. This is the start of a war. We should always remember that when we point one finger at a person, the other four fingers are pointing at ourselves.

If we forgive the others, others will ignore our mistake too.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

CREATING PERFECT RELATIONSHIPS?

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage, SDU, and requested "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one." The SDU officer said, "Your requirements, please." "Oh, good looking, polite, humorous , sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my
leisure hour, if I don't go out. Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest." The officer listened carefull y and replied, "I understand ! you need television."

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband ,because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

NO OVERPOWERING

Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another,or demands too much. People in love tend to think that love will conquer all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage. Actually, this is not the case. There is a Chinese saying which ca! rries the meaning that "It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than a person's character."

It is not easy to change. Thus, having high expectation on changing the spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness.

It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

RIGHT SPEECH

There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "A speech will either prosper or ruin a nation." Many relationships break off because of wrong speech. When a couple is too close with each other,we always forget mutual respect and courtesy. We! may say anything without considering if it would hurt the other party.

A friend and her millionaire husband visited their construction site. A worker who wore a helmet saw her and shouted,"Hi, Emily! Remember me? We used to date in the secondary school." On the way home, her millionaire husband teased her, "Luckily you married me.Otherwise you will be the wife of a construction worker." She answered ,"You should appreciate that you married me. Otherwise, he will be the millionaire and not you."

Frequently exchanging these remarks plants the seed for a bad relationship. It's lik! e a broken egg - cannot be reversed.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

PERSONAL PERCEPTION

Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be another man's poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home,a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on the donkey?"Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?" Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only cho ice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear..

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

BE PATIENT

This is a true story which happened in the States. A man came out of his home to admire his new truck. To his puzzlement, his three-year-old son was happily hammering dents into the shiny paint of the truck. The man ran to his son, knocked him away, hammered the little boy's hands into pulp as punishment. When the father calmed down, he rushed his son to the hospital.

Although the doctor tried desperately to save the crushed bones, he finally had to amputate the fingers from both the bo! y's hands. When the boy woke up from the surgery & saw his bandaged stubs, he innocently said, " Daddy,I'm sorry about your truck." Then he asked, "but when are my fingers going to grow back?" The father went father went back to the car and kicked it several times. Then, he looked at the scratches his child had made. It read: "I love you, Daddy!"

Think about this story the next time someone steps on your feet or u wish to take revenge. Think first before u lose your patience with someone u love. Trucks can be repaired.. Broken bones & hurt feelings often can't. Too often we fail to recognize the difference between the person and the performance. We forget that forgiveness is gr! eater than revenge.

People make mistakes. We are allowed to make mistakes. But the actions we take while in a rage will haunt us forever.

tHe mYst3ry of LoV3

Love is a mystery. Why do we fall in love and how does it happen? Why does love come only to go afterwards? Why does it grow only to wither away?

You may analyze this mystery and look for reasons and causes but you will never find anymore than what experience can offer. Just as life itself is something more than the sum of bones, muscles, and pulses in the body, love is more than the sum of interests, attractions and similarities that two individuals share. And just as life itself is a gift that comes and goes in its own time, so too must be the coming of love be taken as unfathomable gift that cannot be questioned in its ways.

One would hope that at least once in his lifetime, the gift of love would come in full flower and he would take hold of it and celebrate it in its inexpressible beauty. This is a dream we all share. Often, love comes and takes hold of us, celebrates with us for a brief moment, then it moves on. Young people often try to grasp it and hold it tight, refusing to see that it is a gift that freely came within reach and thus has to move away freely. When they, or the object of their affection, fall out of love, they try desperately to reclaim it rather to accept it for what it was and for how long it took, then move on. They would seek answers to unanswerable questions. They would think deeply what’s wrong with them until they start hating themselves, or work to get the people they love to change to the point of suffocation. They would blame the circumstances and try to give meaning instantly to everything that has happened. But how can one find meaning instantly beyond the love that it is in itself a sea of mystery?

We need to accept love as it is and treat ourselves with kindness. If you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. There’s nothing wrong with you but it’s just that love chose not to rest in the heart of the person you love.

If you find someone in love with you and you didn’t love him, feel honored that love has come and knocked at the door of your heart –but gently refuse the gift you cannot return. Do not take advantage and be a cause of pain.

If you love each other but later love chooses to leave, do not reclaim of blame it—let it go. There is a reason and meaning for everything. You will know it in time, but time will choose the right moment.

Remember that you do not choose love—it is love that chooses. One can never force himself to love unless love rests in his heart. All he can do is accept love in all its mystery as soon as it comes, and relishes its taste which is at its best when shared with the person who brought it in and the people around him. It should not be treated as a need. Love should be viewed as something that flows out and not as something that flows in. Love is attracted to him who generates love and eludes him who is a sucker of love. Love only grows by giving it away.

Love has its own time and season. It cannot be bribed, coerced or reasoned to stay. One can only embrace it when it arrives and releases it when it leaves. Love has always been and will always be a mystery.

If by any chance you have loved and it has left, be glad that it came to dwell for a moment in your heart. If you keep the doors of your heart open, surely it will come again.

mr perfect (disaster)

His face looked as if it were a freckle
with a pug nose that loomed up
handsomely between a pair of
roguishly black eyes.

His strong cut face
and soft purring voice can tickle
anybody's senses up to the bones.

"Perfect!" i muttered.

When he gave me a smug, self-satisfied
conceited smile, i threw him a piercing stare.

Then he turned serious as a postman in a blizzard.

Suddenly, laughters echoed like the creaking
of a rusty barn door.

I froze.

When i looked back, i met disdainful eyes
and abashing glares.

Then i felt the whole sky fell down on me
and i could hardly see the gleam anywhere...
